A Song for My Grandfather
A Song For My Grandfather
Oh , my *grandfather
I miss you
your face ’s the light of their mornings
and your voice ’s a flute between valleys
and the shine of your forearms is the glory of a country
You’ re noble
your village is gold
your Mehzam has Pride
the spikes of dignity covers your high land
and the pearls of corn do
You\'re releasing your songs
green deers among those mountains
dancing with little hills
and you open a sky for your people
its numerous clouds play with Mom’s tiny hands
its sparrows repeat
Salam Alik
Salam Alik
Peace be upon you
I dedicate this poem to my late maternal grandfather Mohammad Alamry (Alsabahi)
Mehzam : a belt of feather worn by men around their waist on occasions in Asir Province , Saudi Arabia .
